I first learned some basic meditations when I was still in high school. I would lay awake staring at the clock projected on the ceiling usually until around 2 A.M. The first meditation I learned was how to fall asleep. After starting that meditation it would take less than 5 minutes to fall asleep. Later in the military I learned several meditation and breathing techniques to stay calm in any situation. Now in my current job I have taken advanced classes to become a Mindfulness Coach. The mind is a powerful tool if you let it wander thoughts will spin and roam, increasing your anxiety, or possibly dwell on all the things we should have done. Living in the past lends itself to depression, living in the future increases anxiety. The present is the only moment we live. Find your ways to enjoy every bit of it.
